A new hospice in Kanata, near Ottawa, due in 2016

New, 10-bed hospice established in former Kanata church

The new McCurdy Hospice in Kanata is a former church and will be transformed into a 10-bed residential and day hospice. Roughly $1.7 million was fundraised to purchase the

location, but an additional $4 million will be needed to make the site fully serviceable.

Lisa Sullivan is the executive director of Hospice Care Ottawa (formerly May Court Hospice),  which oversees Ottawa’s three hospices.

The McCurdy location will begin providing day services sometime in early 2014 and hopes to have beds ready by 2016.

When completed there will be 19 total hospice beds in Ottawa. Read more
