What can I do?

I am accompanying a woman to a medical appointment today. She has memory issues, is on oxygen, and is in a wheelchair. Her daughter could not go with her today, as it is hard getting time off work for many people. She knew enough to ask for support from Community Home Support, and accepted my help.

It is difficult for caregivers to know how to ask for help.
In some cases, with caregiver depression being so high, it is hard for them to reach out.

Offering specific help is important:

• dinner and a movie
• a regular ride to appointments
• a meal weekly
• help with finances
• house cleaning
• a weekly phone call
• resource research
• a couple of hours of home maintenance
• raking
• mowing
• shoveling
• picking up prescriptions
• a shoulder to cry on
• shopping
• respite sitter
