The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) is pleased to announce the release of the Hospital Freedom of Information (FOI) Toolkit: A Guide to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
The Toolkit has been developed to help hospitals prepare for the extension of FIPPA to their organizations. It provides a comprehensive overview of hospitals’ obligations under the legislation; advice on how to prepare; practical examples; tips and suggestions for administering FIPPA; and appendices containing templates, forms and other resources.
The Toolkit has been divided into six chapters addressing the following areas:
  • Chapter A: Introduction
  • Chapter B: Protection of Privacy
  • Chapter C: Processing FOI Requests
  • Chapter D: Understanding Exclusions and Exemptions
  • Chapter E: Privacy Complaints and Access Appeals
  • Chapter F: Hospital Implementation and Ongoing Requirements
  • Appendices
All chapters have been posted on the FOI Webpage at www.oha.com/foi under “Implementation Supports” and can be accessed with an OHA member username and password.
