Case studies #36, 37

#36. An 88 year old male client on Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. to give his wife a break, and to give him some support and companionship.  The client had a stroke and is hemiplegic on his left side (paralysis of arm, leg and truck).  He is confined to a wheel chair.  He is very good at transferring.  There are grab bars everywhere.  His wife also has health issues that are due to stress.  The client is a very nice man who is a retired farmer and loves hockey.  He and his wife have been in this small town for 19 years.

37. A delightful 90 year old female client at the local hospital.  She originally went into the hospital with gall stones.  She is too frail to have her gall bladder removed. She needs some companionship at mealtimes.  Her daughter is in much need of respite.  A volunteer is needed to provide relief at breakfast and/or lunch once or twice a week.
