Murder in LTC

Our prisons are filled with those who have addictions, and mental health issues.
It is not surprising that this type of thing can happen.

The statistics:

  • 70% in jail do not possess a high school certificate
  • 80% have addictions
  • 2/3 have mental illnesses

An 85-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a nursing home resident last October.How shocking.
The accused appeared in court Wednesday, charged with killing 88-year-old Frank Moir, said an Ottawa police news release.
Moir's body was found in his room at the Peter D. Clark long-term care home at Meridian Place around 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 21.
Two days later, police said an autopsy had determined that the death was a homicide.
The Peter D. Clark centre is the largest city-run long-term care home in Ottawa, with 211 beds in a complex of houses and bungalows.
