Advocating for yourself

In Canada, Hospital Acquired Infections  are a serious issue. I have written previously about Superbugs, like SARS, and infectious flus.

Hospital-Acquired Infections are the fourth largest killer in Canada. Each year, 220000-. 250000 hospital acquired infections result in 8000-12000 deaths.

Superbugs: 8000 Canadians die from hospital-acquired infections ...

3 Mar 2008 ... The Canadian Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Program estimates 220,000 Canadians develop hospital-acquired infections each year.

It is vitally important to be a self-advocate. I really like this US-video, from the Center for Disease Control. The patient's spouse asks the physician to wash her hands, physician explains she just did, and then the spouse reiterates that the hand sanitizer is right in the doorway.
